McDougall Celebrates Alberta’s Centennial

August 19th, 2005 · No Comments

The Edmonton Temple Band will be participating in this celebration.

Only 100 years ago Alberta became a Province. McDougall Church was here before the beginning and was here in a significant role on “Inauguration Day.” In the late afternoon or early evening a “Patriotic Service” was held in McDougall Church — it was the second building. The Governor General and Prime Minister Laurier were present. Afterwards a reception was held at Alberta College — then located in what is now the parking lot.

On Sunday, September 4th, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. we will be hosting a city-wide inter-faith celebration to lift up the historical and spiritual roots of Alberta. There will be a massed choir, all kinds of special music and a focus on past, present and future. Afterwards, like 100 years ago we will host an “old-fashioned” reception. Make your plans to be here and bring your friends.
