Mission Mexico - Days 5 & 6

March 27th, 2007 · No Comments

Sunday was a wonderful day to worship with the Majors, Alberto (our translator) and his family, and the children.  We sang songs in Spanish from the songbook as well familiar ones like “He is able.”  Right after the morning meeting, we all piled into the vans and spent the day at the beach.

DSCN0940We enjoyed jumping over the waves with the kids.  It was quite windy and slightly overcast, but the children had a great time.  As Jason baked on the beach he said, “I think I would like the missionary life…”  For lunch we had shrimp, fish, hotdogs and tortillas.  Tom arrived safe and sound, just in time to enjoy the beach with us.

Monday we started early scrubbing toilets, constructing shower walls, and painting ceilings.  Doug, Tom and George spent the entire day “mud wrestling” and playing with blocks on the bathroom floor.  It was a hot day, and many of us have sunburns from the beach.

After lunch, Linda began the sewing classes with 8 girls.  VBS began with 23 kids, and was a great success.  The children really enjoyed the cowboy theme song and asked to “sing it again” many times.  Many thanks to Carmen, who worked so hard to translate our Bible verses and message.  We would like more kids tomorrow, and hope they tell all their friends from the village to come.

We ask for prayer for Carmelita, a 6 yr old girl who has been coughing and sick for many days now.  And we can always use prayer for the roosters.
