Mission Mexico - Day 10

March 31st, 2007 · No Comments

Today was a busy day. At devotions, Linda said it would be the most memorable and meaningful day of all.

The morning was spent at the village primary school. We set up four “stations” and divided 180 kids into four teams or equipos. At one station, they played soccer, at the second, they made sand art, at the third, sewed bookmarks and at the last station they saw a presentation on Edmonton.

The time spent with the kids was great fun. We were impressed with the their patience. They did not get frustrated with us. We then invited them to the home for VBS in the afternoon.

Eighty-two children joined us for VBS in the afternoon! We had to move to the big palapa to accommodate all the new children. The men were excused from construction duties to help with VBS. During the games, Doug was being chased by a team of children and cut his hand. He sends this message, “Janet - I´m alive and breathing, don’t worry about me.”

After VBS, Linda fed 108 people goulash. We had only one bowl left over.  After supper, we set up the movie outside in the field and started singing.

One family of three children really stuck out in the crowd. They were travelling from Guatemala and missed their bus to the U.S. They had been sleeping in the field behind the home for 2 days. While we were singing songs, they heard us and came to watch the Jesus Film. They quite thirsty and hungry. They are now sleeping at the home overnight. We are not sure how long they will be here, but they will be taken care of.

Following the Jesus Film, Jason asked how many have accepted Jesus into their life and about 50 hands went up. We don´t know if these are new commitments or re-commitments. We said a special prayer for them, then they made their way home.

We have a funny video of Al teaching sports in Spanish at the village school. It will be uploaded tomorrow.
